Tutorial services are available free of charge to all current varsity student-athletes. Tutoring is meant to assist students in gaining a deeper understanding of course material. Tutors are not intended to teach course material.
Get the Most Out of Your Tutoring Sessions
Provide a class syllabus to the tutor prior to your first session to ensure the tutor is prepared.
Have questions ready to ask the tutor (and if time permits, send them to the tutor prior to each session).
Come prepared with all necessary course materials such as books, notes, syllabus, and course packets.
Show up on time for your tutoring sessions.
Set up future tutoring sessions on a quarterly basis to ensure your session times remain consistent.
Requesting a Tutor
Current varsity student-athletes may request a tutor by following the procedures outlined below.
Fill out and submit a tutor request form at least one week prior to needing a tutor. A response acknowledging the request will be sent within 48 hours.
Once a tutor has been assigned, a follow-up email with contact information will be sent. It is the student-athlete's responsibility to contact the tutor and set up the session(s).
If no tutor is available, the tutorial coordinator will contact campus resources to identify potential tutors. Until one is secured, student-athletes should seek alternative assistance from their professors, TAs, classmates, or other campus resources.
Tutoring sessions must take place in common areas on campus or be conducted online via Teams or Zoom. Each session is expected to begin on time.
If a scheduled tutoring session must be canceled, it is the student-athlete's responsibility to notify the tutor. If the tutor cannot be reached, the student-athlete must notify the tutorial coordinator. For non-emergency situations, student-athletes are required to submit notification at least 24 hours prior to the scheduled session time.
Failure to attend a scheduled appointment without providing a 24-hour advance notice to the tutor will result in a warning. Upon report of a second no-show, the student-athlete will lose tutoring privileges for the remainder of the quarter.
