Professional Biography

Dr. Susan Korach serves as Department Chair and Associate Professor for Educational Leadership and Policy Studies at the University of Denver. She co-created the Ritchie Program for School Leaders in partnership with Denver Public Schools. This program received a US Department of Education School Leadership Program grant in 2008, Wallace Foundation grant in 2011 (Principal Pipeline Initiative), UCEA Exemplary Leadership Program Award in 2014 and Wallace Foundation Grant in 2016 (University Principal Preparation Initiative). She is an active participant with the Center for the Evaluation of Educational Leadership Preparation and Practice and is a member of the INSPIRE Survey Development Team. She has also served on the Standards Committee for the National Educational Leadership Preparation Program (NELP) and is currently serving on the NELP Assessments and Review Committee.

Her research areas are leadership preparation, learning transfer, university/district partnerships and institutional change. Prior to her work at the University of Denver she spent five years working as an educational consultant providing and facilitating leadership development and training, mission development, goal setting, program evaluation, data analysis and accountability systems for charter schools, and twelve years as a public school teacher and leader.
