Professional Biography

Kurt Colburn is an attorney with over 18 years experience in mergers & acquisitions, regulated industries, and complex corporate transactions.

After law school at New York University, Colburn practiced at Debevoise & Plimpton's New York office, representing clients as diverse as New York Life and Chrysler in transactions ranging from $10 million to over $50 billion. After returning to his home town of Denver, Colburn spent 7 years at First Data Corporation - originally as Mergers and Acquisitions Counsel for transactions in the U.S. and Canada, and later as Senior Counsel for International Mergers and Acquisitions, based in Paris and London. Currently, Colburn is Counsel for corporate development at former First Data subsidiary Western Union.

Colburn has represented buyers and sellers in evaluating acquisitions in over 30 countries in Europe, Asia, Central and South America, the Middle East, Australia and Africa; negotiated transaction documents for companies in Athens, Bangalore, Beijing, Brussels, London, Madrid, Moscow, New York, Oslo, Paris, Toronto, Rome, Sal Paulo, and Seoul; and worked extensively with senior management to evaluate complex business scenarios and implement strategies to limit risk and maximize transaction value.

Kurt lives in Stapleton with his wife, daughter, 2 cats and 2 dogs.
