Professional Biography
Kutateladze's scientific degrees (Diploma, 1983, and PhD, 1986) are from Moscow State University (MSU), Russia. He started his professional career as an assistant professor of chemistry at MSU in 1987. After moving to the US in 1990, and postdoctoral research with John Kice (DU) and Howard Zimmerman (University of Wisconsin-Madison), Kutateladze joined the faculty of University of Denver (DU) in 1995 as an assistant professor of chemistry. He was promoted to associate professor in 2001 and to full professor in 2005. In 2009, he was named John Evans Professor. His research is focused on photo-assisted synthesis of complex organic molecules, especially complex polyheterocycles as potential therapeutics. For the last 20 years, his research program has been continuously funded by both the NSF and NIH. Since 2012, he is Dean of the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics.
