Become a Student Scholar
Through DU Grand Challenges, a university-wide initiative powered by CCESL, DUGC Student Scholars are undergraduate students who want to learn more about the issues that matter to them, how to apply their academic learning to those issues, and develop concrete skills and tools for making change in partnership with communities.
Be a Community-Engaged (CE) Fellow
Also offered through DU Grand Challenges, a university-wide initiative powered by CCESL, CE Fellows are DU advanced undergraduate and graduate students who are passionate advocates for the public purpose of higher education and DU’s public good mission.
Connect with a Community Organization
Through CCESL’s Scholar Shop, students can connect with local organizations to collaborate on projects that address community-identified interests while gaining hands-on experience and fulfilling their program requirements.
Get Funding to Support Your Project
Through DU Grand Challenges, a university-wide initiative powered by CCESL, students may apply for an Advancing Community-Engaged (ACE) Student Scholars Grant to support research or creative work projects that are collaborations with community partners and are faculty-mentored.
Come to an Event
We hold multiple events and workshops to learn, connect, and collaborate with others at DU and in the local community who are interested in community engagement. There are opportunities to get involved in impactful work and engage in meaningful dialogue that moves towards concrete action.
Take a Course for Credit
Undergraduate students can take CCESL’s 3-course sequence to learn the foundations of community-engagement engaged methods culminating in an individualized action plan for a community-engaged academic project. Students can earn independent study credits for the implementation of their action plans.
Go for a Scholarship or Award
Whether you are a current high school senior or in your final year of study at DU, CCESL’s scholarship and award programs support and recognize students committed to being catalysts for social change.
Join the Graduate Student Community of Practice
The Community of Practice for graduate students is a small cohort of cross-campus graduate students who are incorporating community-engaged methods into their scholarly work.
